Biography

I am a researcher with a PhD from the University of Edinburgh, where I focused on statistical approaches to enable Precision Medicine. My work centers on developing and evaluating statistical machine learning pipelines to make better use of large-scale electronic healthcare records. I am especially driven by the challenge of building clinical prediction models that are not only accurate but also fair and equitable across diverse populations. A component of my research involves counterfactual analysis and value-of-information frameworks, which allow us to ask not just what is likely to happen, but what could have happened under different conditions, and how that knowledge can inform better health decisions. My work aims to challenge biases in models and data, ensuring that health decision-making tools serve everyone justly. Furthermore, my current interests revolve around developing models to predict differentials in the transmission rates of infectious diseases, helping to uncover how structural and social determinants contribute to disparities in disease spread and outcomes.
