Biography

Born in Johannesburg, South Africa, I completed my undergraduate degree in Biomedical Science at the University of the Witwatersrand before moving to the University of Cape Town to pursue an Honours degree and MSc in Neuroscience. My research focused on the effects of BDNF on GABAergic signalling, using a novel all-optical reporter of inhibitory receptor driving force.

I am now pursuing a PhD at the University of Edinburgh in the Hardingham Lab, supported by the Simons Initiative for the Developing Brain. My research investigates the interactions between neurons and astrocytes during development, aiming to better understand how these interactions shape neuronal development and normal brain function, and how their disruption may contribute to neurodevelopmental and neurodegenerative disorders.
