We are pleased to announce the appointment of a new Group Leader, Prof Paresh Malhotra, to support the institute in delivering its vision of healthy brain ageing for all.
Prof Paresh Malhotra is a clinically active academic neurologist at Imperial College London who specialises in cognitive disorders and dementia. His clinical and research work focuses on developing and evaluating new diagnostic approaches and treatments for neurodegenerative conditions, particularly Alzheimer’s. He led the NIHR-funded Phase 3 NorAD trial and is co-lead of a planned multi-arm multi-stage platform trial in Alzheimer’s disease.
Prof Malhotra is Head of the Division of Neurology at Imperial, National Specialty Lead for Dementias and Neurodegeneration for the NIHR Research Delivery Network and a trustee of the Alzheimer’s Society.
I’m incredibly excited to start a programme within the UK DRI. There is a lot of amazing work going on throughout the UK DRI, and I very much hope that I can help it make a real difference to people living with dementia.
Group Leader
At the UK DRI, Paresh’s programme will be focused on harnessing new opportunities and the data generated by trials to transform the way that dementia treatments are evaluated at the level of the individual participant.
Prof Siddharthan Chandran, UK DRI Director, said:
“We are delighted to welcome Paresh to the UK DRI. His programme, aiming to transform the way dementia treatments are evaluated in trials, will be a valuable addition to the UK DRI team. His expertise in delivering clinical trials will aid in accelerating translation of our discovery research, playing a key role in driving our vision of healthy brain ageing for all.”
